<p>True Religion has had quite a busy year. The company has expanded and opened more freestanding stores. This spring will also launch a new style campaign for the brand.</p>
<p>They have enlisted Sports Illustrated Model, Tori Praver and men’s model Gabriel Aubry to be the face of the new campaign. Jeff Lubell, the company’s director, feels that the new campaign will help shift the brand’s image from hippy to upscale. “It is a lot more glam, more glitz, but not moving away too far from our roots,” said Lubell. “They both had that hippie, bohemian-chic look that I look for in choosing high-fashion models,” he said. “At the same time, they also gave me the glamorous side of the business.”</p>
<p>The new ads will also be featuring more of the non-denim aspects of the brand, such as vests, shoes and shirts, which were modeled by Gisele Bündchen in last year’s campaign but will highlight their accessibility to the consumer.</p>

<p>A New Semiomantics Framework called YORGOO News Cast is to be released later this week. News Cast is the flagship of the Semiomantics News Paper and Magazine type of publication frameworks, including the Tabloid, the YORGOO Press and now the YORGOO News cast theme.<br />

<h3>What is new on News Cast?</h3>
<p>YORGOO News Cast has a &#8220;foldable&#8221; or scalable News Paper layout. The Front Page is built in modules which can be switched on or off with a mouse click to fit the layout to the user&#8217;s needs.</p>
<p>Featured Video and Image categories are brought to the top of the page, as well as the latest news headlines. This gives a quick, informative  and yet complete overview about the latest and most important happenings on the site.</p>
<p>Default images and automated thumbnails are associated with each post in the different category fields of the layout.</p>
<p>Page menus above and Category menus below the header make the site accessible and easy to surf.</p>
<p>Compared to YORGOO Press, single pages and single posts are easier to read due to improved styling.</p>
<p>Built in Hooks for Flickr allow external management of image streams.</p>
<p>Feeds per Category are automatically made available to visitors making it easy to extract targeted feeds from the site.</p>
<p>Advertising on the site is similar to YORGOO Press: reserved spaces in the layout where html code is added as well as widgets which can be added to or replace content of content fields in the layout.<br />

<p>Default language is English. A language file allows to translate the theme quickly into any language.<br />

<p>YORGOO Press News Paper layout uses thumbnails for illustration purposes. These thumbnails are created automatically from the first image loaded in a post. The thumbnails are only created from images loaded to the WordPress media upload folder (using the post or page editor).</p>
<p>For this reason, automatic thumb-nailing does not work on imported or syndicated posts.</p>
<p>To automate the thumbnail creation also on imported content, YORGOO Press allows you to load default images which will show when ever no image from the WordPress media upload folder is associated with a post.<br />

<p>The thumbnails and default images are stored in the wp-content/uploads and the wp-contents/uploads/cache folder. Both folders need to have permissions set to 777 (CHMOD). The default images are placed in the uploads folder while the thumbs created will automatically be cached and stored in the image cache. <p><strong>Unzip and place the content in a folder called &#8220;uploads&#8221; </strong> (without the quotes and in small letters)</p>

<p>From the above screen shot you see that images 3,4,5,6 and 19 don&#8217;t show an image; in fact these images are by default set to 1 Pixel x 1 Pixel, letting you choose the size based on your preferences.</p>
<p>We will indicate here below some recommended default size values, corresponding to the defaults embedded in the script and showing by default when you associate an image to a post in the corresponding category. Feel free to change them.<br />

<p>At present the default pictures are loaded to your YORGOO Press. If you replace the placeholders with an image of your choice, make sure you name the new defaults created by you EXACTLY the same way the present defaults are called.</p>

<p>This image displays as a default in the Featured Image section on top left of the home page if you don&#8217;t add a picture to your Featured Posts.</p>

<p>You may create different image sizes as well, depending on your preferences. However, the above sizes will give a good result.</p>
<p>For the Bottom 8 categories, consider creating 8 different images in relation to the categories represented there. Of course you can create images which are completely independent from your Blog Theme and use a separate image theme, displaying for example only car related images, or toys, or flowers, or such like. The choice of a graphic theme gives your site coherence.</p>

And yet, many publishers, blog masters and newbie webmasters struggle to place the ads in a meaningful way on their sites.<br />

<p>Google Gurus, rich of advise, have a tip and an answer to all the problems we may encounter, however the Guru Approach seems more often than not to be focused on the interests of Google rather than the individual publisher.</p>
<p>According to widely published Google Gurus, to reach Google Top 10 you need good (original) content, and loads of it. Looking at search returns, this is obviously not true, and Google is obviously not in a position to measure quality and to distinguish good from bad, original from copy and true from fake. It&#8217;s wishful thinking to imagine that Google search results will get substantially better by just tweaking the algorithm a bit here and a tick there.</p>
<p>Another Guru Approach is to make us believe that we have to clearly tag, mark or distinguish ads from other content. There is nothing wrong with that per se; but as a web master, it is not my job to work for Google and to make the distinctions READABLE by Google.</p>
<p>Example: to comply with legal rules (Consumer Protection) one could load a title &#8220;Advertisement&#8221; in form of an image or a flash tag which Google cannot read. We comply with the rules, however Google is not capable of reading it. Google Gurus want to make us believe that we have to be more catholic than the pope and edit for Google. The Guru Approach often is an approach with tends to protect the Guru Status and if you want to be a Google Guru, just repeat stupidly what Google writes smartly on their sites and blogs.</p>
<p>The good news is that Google Blogs are analyzed by many Gurus like Alan Greenspan&#8217;s statements a few years back. The Gurus then feed their stuff to main stream and they luckily are followed by the masses of developers and blog masters. This is the good news as it indicates clearly where not to head to.<br />

<p>If there has been a celebrity who caught worldwide attention during 30 years, it&#8217;s Michael Jackson. Never before, nor since, a singer was able to create a buzz like Thriller.<br />

<p>Michael Jackson&#8217;s death hit the internet like a bomb: the WWW went just on slow motion, even large sites such as Twitter and Facebook. Within minutes the news was out all over the  world before the big news agencies and news networks started broadcasting the breaking news; once more the Internet had become the ultimate source for the latest headlines.<br />

<p>Of course for the last 8 hours about Google&#8217;s top spots are monopolized by the big boys who throw all their publishing power into the game. As the news come in at a high pace, it&#8217;s about impossible for us small publishers to grab a spot with high visibility.<br />

<h3>Semiomantics in the Race</h3>
<p>Just midnight here in Europe we had been informed about the upcoming Buzz. We thought of testing our means by just publishing a three lines announcement about the death of Michael Jackson. As publishers we had two objectives: first to test Semiomantics while the biggest buzz on the Internet since Obama&#8217;s election lasted and then to feed the news through our channels to social networks, Tweeter and Facebook. We will report at a later stage about the behavior of the feed on Social Networks.<br />

<h3>Moments of  Success</h3>
<p>Surprisingly we could see our post on Google almost instantly, however the glory did not last for long. Within about 15 minutes we disappeared again and for good. The buzz created overload and for hours our server&#8217;s performance was compromised. In fact we only fully recovered YORGOO Publishing this morning.</p>
